The Loop
Community Center for Rural Southern Senegal
The proposal focuses on the design of a climate-responsive community center for a rural settlement near Sindina, in southern Senegal. The project aims to create a shared place for learning, meeting, workshops, and everyday social interaction. The building is designed as a protective circular form organized around a communal inner core. Its enclosed, semi-open, and outdoor spaces create a flexible structure that can serve children, students, women, elders, and local community groups. Through shading, natural ventilation, and simple construction, the project responds to the hot tropical climate while offering a comfortable and accessible public space. In this way, the community center becomes a social core for the village, supporting education, cultural exchange, and collective rural life.
