Terezín
Terezín is a city with complex and multilayered history. Its identity is largely dominated in collective memory by its more recent past, especially its role as a concentration camp during The Second World War. Today, Terezín faces the challenge of connecting its memorial significance with the contemporary use. The city currently experiences predominantly short-term tourism focused mainly on memorial and museum visits. Enhancing public spaces and introducing wider range of activities could encourage visitors to extend their stay and engage with the city and its inhabitants beyond the guided tours.
